Well, it’s been awhile, hasn’t it? I’m going to ramble about technology for a minute (something I seem to be able to do any minute of any day). Yesterday, Apple announced the next major release of Mac OS X (codenamed "Panther") that is due out by year’s end, a new version of iChat that does audio and video chats, a new Apple-made monitor-mounted camera called iSight, and a bunch of other stuff. I’m quite excited about it. I’m at WWDC today so I took a few pictures. Enjoy!
I was playing around with the iSight tonight. We were able to get around 9 fps over wired ethernet, 4 fps over 802.11b. I was able to do an audio conference with someone in Washington (Hi Evan) over my 128 kbps cellular data connection! I was able to send my video to someone without the iSight using a DSL line at a local bakery in San Francisco. It will be interesting to see how this product changes communication over longer distances. I can already imagine a new “The Little iSight / iChat AV Book: How to comb your hair and look good for the VP’s on the other end of the wire.”
You went to WWDC and that is all the pictures you took?!
Well, when you’re @ WWDC, you’re really supposed to be going to sessions, not taking pictures. 🙂 Was I on some kind of scavenger hunt or something?
