I finally got around to making a rough draft (when I probably should have been doing my taxes or fixing my ceiling) and this is it. Please excuse the bad recording, I just used the built in computer microphone and the high notes get a little loud sometimes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.joshlewis.org\/eddie\/music\/AnotherSirernSong.mp3\"><strong\/>Another Siren Song<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>She\u0092s that fantastic person in the blue and white dress<br \/>\nShe wears no make-up, her hair is a mess.<br \/>\nShe\u0092s pretty and lit.<\/p>\n<p>She takes my breath and stores it in pockets,<br \/>\nShe takes my soul and hooks it to rockets<br \/>\nThat come in a kit.<\/p>\n<p>If I could open her skin I\u0092d find sunlight and clover,<br \/>\nI\u0092d roll in her waves, over and over,<br \/>\nShe\u0092d drown me in azure and make me her lover.<br \/>\nShe\u0092d draw me a sword.<\/p>\n<p>You\u0092ll listen to her words through her limping tongue<br \/>\nAnd think of brown cows licking their young<br \/>\nOut past the spring.<\/p>\n<p>Her muscles are wrought with fat womens\u0092 whistles<br \/>\nHer knees are implanted with alien missiles.<br \/>\nI hear her sing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u0093Come into my kitchen with your tin-kettle hat,<br \/>\nI will break your will with my wiffle-ball bat,<br \/>\ntogether we will sever all the muscle from the fat,<br \/>\nthe babe from the cord.\u0094<\/p>\n<p>And slowly you\u0092ll find your fancy yacht tipping,<br \/>\nYour sails from the mast, your own volition, ripping.<br \/>\nShe slips off her perch.<\/p>\n<p>Walking barefoot on the carpet, her eyes blue burning,<br \/>\nShe\u0092s the keeper of the zoo, the cages she\u0092s turning,<br \/>\nAnd peeling the birch.<\/p>\n<p>You\u0092ll lose your way in the ivory wood.<br \/>\nYou\u0092ll forget your life was ever good.<br \/>\nShe\u0092ll lay before you veil and hood,<br \/>\nthen climb aboard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a poem I wrote last summer that was meant to be a song, but I put it off.
