{"id":969,"date":"2015-12-29T05:38:22","date_gmt":"2015-12-29T04:38:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.joshlewis.org\/eddie\/?p=969"},"modified":"2015-12-29T05:38:22","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T04:38:22","slug":"a-time-to-comb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.joshlewis.org\/eddie\/2015\/12\/a-time-to-comb\/","title":{"rendered":"A Time to Comb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I comb my hair just for you.<br \/>\nI pull out the twists.<br \/>\nThe grease left in the tines,<br \/>\nthe black fuzz from my sweater.<br \/>\nI listen to the jazz music and comb my hair.<br \/>\nMy hair is not even wet<br \/>\nand it hurts a little.<br \/>\nBut my motion is smooth,<br \/>\nmy stomach grooves at the thought<br \/>\nin wavy waves.<br \/>\nI\u2019m smiling combing my hair<br \/>\nand wonder why I haven\u2019t done it sooner,<br \/>\nwhy I keep the comb in the shower.<br \/>\nWatching a movie, then with the bathroom light on<br \/>\nand walking through the house.<br \/>\nI brush the comb clean with tap water and soap<br \/>\nand then pull my dark brown black hair back like a gangster.<br \/>\nMy beard can almost wag, a guru, and catches.<br \/>\nThe bass twinges, the piano swangin\u2019.<br \/>\nI am happy to live in the flurry minute,<br \/>\nthe bright light in the bathroom.<br \/>\nI wish I was more hairy. Where you couldn\u2019t see my skin,<br \/>\n<em>Sweep my body from head to toe, from toe to head.<\/em><br \/>\nSigh, a stringed instrument. I probably have red<br \/>\nmarks down the back of my neck, don\u2019t I?<br \/>\nI smell the comb.<br \/>\nIt is the right thing to do. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I comb my hair just for you.
