Another Cool Band Name josh Personal February 24, 2005 1 Minute Here it is: “Loadstar 81”. 100 bonus points to anyone who can tell me where this name is from. It’s pretty flippin’ sweet. Published by josh View all posts by josh Published February 24, 2005
Is it a Spaceballs reference? I know Pullman’s character was Lonestar or Loadstar (Lord Helmet not being known for perfect diction). That’s the big Frickin’ Swede’s best guess. Reply
Google was worthless. I don’t know. I’m pretty sure it isn’t Space Balls though. That was definitely Lonestar. Reply
Wasn’t Loadstar associated with Commodore 64? But I thought Commodore 64 was birthed in 1982, not 1981. That’s my guess. Reply

Or, Load “*” ,8,1 And that would load the first program on a 5″ floppy disk in the drive on a C-64. POP Reply

So does Loadstar 81 kinda represent the beginning of the gaming age?
No, it’s much more concrete than that.
To use a Commodore 64 game disk, insert floppy and type:
Load “*”81
Or, Load “*” ,8,1 And that would load the first program on a 5″ floppy disk in the drive on a C-64.

There you go, people. Good work, Pop!
“Lodestar” is also a Sarah Harmer song. And a really good one at that.
