I saw this on Digg. Read the article first and then watch the video at the bottom of the page. It’s just breathtakingly inspiring and wonderful. Warning: story may cause grown men to cry.

Interesting Voice Mail
Steph and I got a phone call today while we were out. This was the message they left. The three or four second pause at the beginning really sets you up nicely here, I think. Listen first, then read.
After hearing this, we were both thinking it would’ve been far more interesting to go the route of, “Did you know there are more than 378 registered sex offenders in your back yard right now? Seriously. They’re actually trying to peek in your windows. Go look, I’ll wait.” As long as we’re trying to shock people, why not add a little heavy breathing, and have the recording claim to be one of the registered sex offenders on the phone right now? “Who is it honey?” “Oh, it’s a registered sex offender. He wants us to vote. And… and leave our patio door unlocked.”

Birthday Song
Eddie gave me a birthday song today. Best musical gift ever? You be the judge.
Spooky
Sometimes I’ll open the blinds and look out the window when its dark outside, just to see what’s there, who’s on the sidewalk. And for just a moment my insides will seize, because I see a man standing right in front of me, peering in at me, looking directly into my eyes. And then I immediately realize it’s just my clear reflection on the dark glass. And I close the blinds.
But I’m always afraid that one of these days, it won’t be a reflection.
Stephanie, the Designer
Stephanie is quickly becoming a real designer. I’ll explain what I mean via a “conversation” she and I had this morning, but I have to set something up first. Stephanie and I each have our own alarm clock on our own side of the bed. Hers goes “Beedeebeedeebeet, beedeebeedeebeet, beedeebeedeebeet,” and mine goes, “Kreee, kreee, kreee, kreee.”
And now, our conversation. We were laying in bed, asleep, and…
Alarm clock: Beedeebeedeebeet, beedeebeedeebeet, beedeebeedeebeet
Josh: (Imitates alarm clock) Beedeebeedeebeet, beedeebeedeebeet, beedeebeedeebeet
Stephanie: (Gets up, hits snooze, and lays back down) Joshua.
Josh: Huh?
Stephanie: If your alarm clock was a font, it would be Helvetica, and mine would be Helvetica Neue. (Falls back asleep.)
And that was our “conversation.”
